Rebbecca Victor, Author

HELLO!

I’m Rebecca Victor.

Mother of three little birdies, dedicated lifelong learner, and weaver of bedtime stories, I live in Colorado with my husband and daughters. Turning bedtime stories into books for other children to read and enjoy has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I’m so excited to be here and share it with you!

I fell in love with stories.

Growing up we didn’t have much, but we had one another, and we had stories. I remember lying on the floor crammed in the living room of our 900-square-foot farmhouse with all my cousins who were visiting from Kansas and listening to my mom and aunt reminisce about days gone by on the family’s Buckingham Ranch. They’d sing songs they’d learned as young girls.  Somewhere in the middle of Where Have All the Flowers Gone? or Tommy Overstreet’s, That’s When My Woman Begins, I’d fall asleep feeling loved and completely content.

Now my own children love to look through photos, hear stories about when they were babies, and hear about how Mom living in Colorado met Dad living in the Caribbean. They love to go over and over our family adventures that have been passed down from one generation to the next. I love the way our family’s stories, along with the Bible stories that have always been part of our lives, remind us that we belong and that we are loved.

I’m passionate about literacy.

Being a Brand Partner for PaperPie (formerly known as Usborne Books & More) has allowed me to fill our bookshelves to overflowing and has allowed me to spread the love of literacy through amazing books with others across the country (and Caribbean!). But it wasn’t until the pandemic, during my live story times in my VIP group, that I officially started writing my own children’s books! Writing kid lit has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, so I can hardly believe it’s finally happening! I’m so grateful for the experiences and the stories in my life that have helped me to get to where I am today.

I love airplanes, just like Tessa.

I've been asked why airplanes are the inspiration for the main characters in my books. The first reason is my daughter Tessa. She has always loved toys that reflect modes of transportation: planes, trains, cars, monster trucks. Secondly, I feel like aviation, more than any other invention in history, has always had room for women. Since the beginning women have been a part of the history of flight. And finally, I’ve been surrounded by strong, determined women my whole life, and with the Lord’s daily help, my husband and I are raising our girls to be creative, passionate, graceful, and humble God-fearing little women, so I was drawn to reflecting those character traits through my female airplane characters.
